Stained Glass and Glass Painting
Sattler's Stained Glass Studio is a stained glass and glass painting
studio which produces new contemporary windows, as well as restores
antique stained glass windows (in churches and official buildings).
In addition, Norbert Sattler developed innovative methods to fire
and etch glass, allowing modern artistic designs to be transferred
on to stained glass windows. This requires cooperation with the
artists and their ideas, and architects and other crafts people
involved in a building project. To facilitate this, Sattler's Stained
Glass Studio offers accommodation in the Guest House for customers
and artists. The close proximity allows the artists and customers
to come to terms with their work and orders and to accompany the
creative process.
Stained Glass Lamps and Artistic Mirrors
The company also produces stained glass lamps and artistic mirrors
as well as melted glass objects, in particular jewelry, plates and
bowls.
A Clientele of International Customers and Artists

standart of quality maintained by Norbert has allowed him immediate
recognition in the Germany stained glass business. His workshop
is one of the top five stained glass workshops in Germany with a
clientele of international customers and artists, who come to Scheuring
because of his well known skills and service.
Twenty-Eight Years of Experience
Norbert brings a unique combination of talents as well as specialized
skills in stained glass restoration to Nova Scotia. His twenty-eight
years of experience, both in the applied arts and in working with
conservationists and other specialists, provide a clear advantage
in the field. No other studio in North America offers the variety
of products and services of Sattler's Stained Glass Studio.
Pollution Causes Problems
Because pollution has increased world-wide in the past one hundred
years, the aging and decomposition of historic windows in churches
is rapidly getting worse. Also the temperature gap between heated
interior of churches and the cold outside has added to the problem
in the fifty years, stressing the lead and putty, which are holding
the structure and glass, to extremes. The old production methods
and materials unchanged until today, are not fit to deal with today's
pollution problems. |
Product and Services
Old Craft - Modern Techniques
As one of the oldest crafts, painting and stained glass was developed
as a method to cover a lighted space in walls and as a symbolic
ornament, especially in churches. Glass became an artistic and architecural
medium. The methods of production remain the same over the centuries.
A stained glass window form the 12th Century was produced in mostly
the same way as a stained glass window today. A glazier from today
could easily find his way in a workshop of that century - he could
start work immediately. Although modern techniques make it a bit
easier for today's craft person, the process is still the same.
Special Methods of Restoration and Protection
The rapidity of decay was motive enough for Norbert Sattler to concentrate
on special methods of restoration and protection of historic stained
glass windows, which he offers to all of this customers.
Profiting from the Artistic and Work Experience
Norberts experience and modern techniques of designing, staining,
etching and firing glass enables him to also design and build new
glass windows from historic patterns or modern designs to be installed
in official buildings or churches as well as private homes. Also,
pictorial window hangings are profiting from the artistic and work
experiences of Norbert Sattler.
The skills and unique designs, in combination with ancient glass
staining and painting methods and the high quality of assembly and
finish make the product of Sattler's Stained Glass Studio outstanding.

studio in the development of specific effects and new methods are
also seen as goals attainable in the long range. Add to this the
ability the realization of artistic design and to expand the restoration
orders for historic windows, Sattler's Stained Glass Studio will
